Iran claims bodies found in Iraqi 'morgue'

Iran says around half of the 200 bodies found by British troops in southern Iraq belong to Iranian soldiers killed in the two countries' 1980-88 war.

British soldiers searching a former army headquarters yesterday found rows of makeshift coffins holding human remains wrapped in plastic bags.

The head of Iran's missing in action department has called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to recover the remains.

Since the end of the war, Iran and Iraq have carried out around 50 exchanges of remains of fallen soldiers.
